This weekend we went away with our friends Andrea and Skyleur and their two boys Cole and Carson. Andrea's family has a cabin on Henry's Lake and it was so beautiful up there. We had our share of weather - sun, rain, super wind storm, saw snow on the mountain tops and hit like 30 degrees at one point. We got there at night, so the next day we went boating...on Henry's Lake! (you see...Henry's Lake to me has always only been something I read about, not really ever saw.) Noah went on the tube for the first time and he loved it! I was of course holding on to the back behind him. It was quite comical. We toured the area from the boat...such a tucked in little gem!
Every morning I went out and just went on a little walk. I took Noah with me one morning and right before he left he said, "Mom, I want some watermelons." So, on the walk he ate his bowl of watermelon. We had to carefully traverse the cow gate since his little feet could have just slid right through...but, it made it a fun game.
We played games (I stink at Trivial Pursuit and apparently am too slow and old to play UNO), we made SMORES (of course it was who could make the perfect marshmallow), we ate lots of food, and we sat in front of a nice, warm fire.
We went into Yellowstone National Park for a bit (Carson was not feeling well that day so we didn't go for to long) and we saw buffalo, elk and deer. We saw Old Faithful blow...we were a little far away, but never the less we saw it! Noah, Mike and I took a quick walk around some of the little geysers...it was really too windy and next time we will take a stroller. It is hard with a little one that you either have to carry or worry he might fall in! We had really, really yummy chocolate sundaes that have homemade chocolate sauce on them - thanks Andrea! She had been craving this place for weeks!
On our way home the storm had rolled in on the lake and it was so windy and rainy - everything had blown around like crazy - but, there was a moment that we were all laughing. We were pulling down the road and there were cows everywhere. We wanted to open the doors (of the minivan - both side doors open) and let the boys see the cows up close and personal. Well, all the sudden there was a "panda cow"...you may ask yourself what is a panda cow? Well, it's a cow whose face looks like a panda! It wouldn't let us look at it good, so we reversed super fast, trying not to hit a cow, and then we all saw the "panda cow" in it's glory! I will post it's picture for all to see. On our way out yesterday as we drove past that same place in the road, Noah says,"Mommie, where is the Panda Cow?" HAHAHAHA! I think I might have just made him a city boy ...and not on purpose.
HAPPY LABOR DAY everyone! Thanks for a beautiful lake and a beautiful park God!
