During the week we attempt to have a few projects that Noah puts together or is the sole participant of. It can be science related, practical life, sensory, or language related. Here are a few of the projects he has completed lately.
This is a dinosaur sensory box. It has lentils and black eyed peas (dinosaur eggs), miniature dinosaurs, plastic dinosaurs and trees, and then other things that start with D (bean bag, alphabet cards, miniature deer, and two dinosaur cookie cutters). The rules are that the rocks and eggs have to stay in the box and it becomes dinosaur land.
This is a "calm down" jar...or I just call it his glitter jar. It is made of glitter glue, water, food coloring and a pickle jar....shake it up and you can watch the glitter swirl and fall for quite a few minutes.
Noah's faraway grandparents (this is what he calls them), Grandma Deb and Grandpa Guy sent him science kits for Christmas! He has been dying to use the magnifying glass and the goggles, so this project was great. He poured the water in the beaker, dropped in the food coloring, and stuck the celery into the beaker to watch how plants take water from their roots. Daddy helped us by cutting the celery shorter so our beaker didn't tip over.... and .... Wala! Blue leaves!
While we were waiting for the leaves to change color we sorted out colored beads with tongs (to improve coordination and hand grip) and he made it into his own game.
He also did all the measuring on our latest batch of banana bread. I taught him how to lock down the mixer and change the speed. He had to pour everything in and peel the bananas. He will now also eat it better because as he told me this morning as I gave the option of Froot Loops or Banana Bread, "Banana Bread, Mom...because I am the one that made it!"

Grandpa loves banana bread too. What a busy, wonderful day. Science is amazing and so are you Noah! love grandma Deb
